Add and organise services
Set up everything customers can book, from pricing and duration to where the appointment happens.
What a service is
A service is anything a customer can book on your calendar — a haircut, a dental check-up, a consulting session, a car wash. Each service controls its own duration, price, and booking rules, so you can run a short simple menu or a detailed one with dozens of options.
If you offer more than a handful of services, group them into categories (for example "Hair", "Nails", "Massage") so the list stays easy to scan, both for you in the console and for customers on your booking page.
Add a service
- Go to https://slotwise.skotechlabs.com/app/services and click New service.
- Fill in the basics:
- Name — what customers see on the booking page.
- Description — a short explanation of what's included.
- Image — a photo shown on the booking page.
- Colour — used to identify the service on the Calendar.
- Category — the group this service belongs to.
- Set the timing:
- Duration — how long the appointment takes.
- Buffer time before/after — extra time blocked off for cleanup, setup, or travel, which customers don't see or pay for.
- Choose how the price appears:
- Price type — Fixed, Starting from, Free, or Don't show the price.
- Compare-at price (optional) — an original price shown alongside the current one, so customers see a discount.
- Decide whether a deposit is required: none, a fixed amount, a percentage of the price, or full payment upfront.
- Set the Capacity. Leave it at 1 for a normal one-on-one appointment. Anything higher turns the service into a class or group session — see "Classes and group sessions" for how that works.
- Choose where the service happens:
- At the business
- Video call — a private video link is created automatically unless you set your own.
- Phone call
- At the customer's address
- If you run more than one location, choose which locations offer this service.
- Pick which team members perform the service. Any of them can have their own price or length if it differs from the default.
- Optionally set rules that override your business's normal booking rules for this service only: needs approval, minimum notice, how far ahead it can be booked, and slot interval. See "Booking rules explained" for what each of these means.
- Turn on Show on booking page once the service is ready for customers to see, then click Save.
Tip Keep buffer time realistic. If you always need ten minutes to reset the room, build it into the service instead of relying on staff to leave gaps manually.
Tip Use "Starting from" for services where the final price depends on what the customer needs, such as a consultation or repair, and reserve "Fixed" for services with one set price.
Tip A deposit is a simple way to cut down on no-shows for longer or higher-value services, without asking for full payment upfront.
Tip Leave Show on booking page off while you're still setting up a new service, so it doesn't appear half-finished to customers.
Group services into categories
Categories keep a long service list organised in both the console and the booking page. Set a service's category when you create or edit it — customers then see services grouped under the same headings you use internally.
Duplicate and reorder services
To create a similar service quickly, open an existing one and choose Duplicate, then adjust the name, price, or team members on the copy instead of starting from scratch.
To change the order services appear in — in the console and on the booking page — drag a service up or down in the list.
Tip Put your most popular or most profitable services near the top of each category. Most customers book from the first few options they see.
